Half Lion Half Fish

Night shot the the Merlion Park (Photo from http://flickr.com/yototab)
The Merlion is no doubt the most photographed and popular icon in Singapore.  A trip to the Merlion Park is a must for every tourist coming to Singapore for the first time.  A mythical creature with the head of a lion and body of a fish, This iconic structure has ever since became the trademark symbol of Singapore.

Situated strategically at the Marina Bay in front of Fullerton Hotel, a photo op with the Merlion will surely be one of your most memorable picturesque moment in Singapore.  Surrounded by Singapore's highest sky scrapers, the Merlion to me symbolizes the city's vibrant economy.

Pose with your wackiest and craziest shot with the Merlion!  The perfect time of the day to visit the Merlion is around 9am in the morning so its bright and sunny but not that hot.   Do not ever try to visit the Merlion Park if the sky is dark cause it will surely rain.  Those who can do night photography will find it very interesting to take photos after sundown as the buildings around the Merlion comes to life.  Lights off around 11pm, sometimes the lights are open until dawn during weekends.

Try the one dollar ice cream with wafer from the corner of Esplanade Bridge on your way to the Merlion Park.

  1. Nice pic! Makes me want to take up photography... though I'm not going to... at least for now! Haha.

    For those wondering:
The lion head represents Singapore's original name, Singapura (Lion City). The fish body represent's an even older name, Temasek (sea town). It was designed in 1984.
